The color of its flesh is much darker green . \u003cbr\u003ethe mother is a seed grown hybrid with a upright fat body that branches and basal pups and prefers full sun , different types of fertilizer do in fact seem to change and affect the color of the flowers on the mother ! More nitrogen and seaweed seem to leave it more pastel and bland and more sulfur and potassium seem to make it more vibrant and fuchsia in color .  The flower only opens at night and its outer blossom is red . The flower does open several nights in a row , making it slightly longer lived than the average trichocereus !
